From September 5 to 7, 2026, the Canadian International Air Show returns to the skies above Lake Ontario for its 77th edition, bringing precision formations, historic aircraft and high-speed demonstrations to Toronto’s waterfront.

This year carries an added sense of occasion as the Canadian Forces Snowbirds celebrate 55 years and take to the skies for their final season flying the iconic CT-114 Tutor.

Why the 2026 Air Show Is Different

For many Canadians, the Snowbirds need little introduction.
The Royal Canadian Air Force demonstration team has flown the CT-114 Tutor since 1971, becoming one of the country's most recognizable aviation traditions.

In 2026, the Snowbirds mark their 55th anniversary, while the Tutor enters its final air-show season before retirement. That makes this year’s Toronto appearance especially significant. The familiar nine-aircraft formation, the red-and-white jets and the precision manoeuvres that generations have watched over Lake Ontario will become part of Canadian aviation history after this season.

The confirmed 2026 lineup currently includes the RCAF CF-18 Demonstration, the U.S. Air Force F-16 Viper Demonstration Team, the Jack Aces Formation Aerobatic Team, The Pink Jet, vintage warbirds and several civilian aerobatic performers.

One particularly fitting addition for 2026 is the RCAF Heritage Flight, bringing together four generations of military aviation in one formation: a Hawker Hurricane, Supermarine Spitfire, CT-114 Tutor and modern CF-18 Hornet.

The result is a programme that moves between aviation history and modern jet performance in a matter of minutes. As always, performers and schedules remain subject to change.

A Different Way to Watch: The Sky Lounge at Hotel X

On Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6, Hotel X turns its 4th-floor High Park Terrace into an elevated viewing destination of its own.

The Sky Lounge Experience at Hotel X Toronto | Snowbirds Farewell Edition runs from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., giving guests time to settle in before the flying begins at noon.

Instead of searching for a patch of waterfront and carrying everything with you for the afternoon, guests can take in the aerial performances from the hotel’s elevated terrace overlooking Lake Ontario, accompanied by music, food and drinks. Current ticket options range from access including a lunch buffet and drink tickets to more elevated VIP experiences with premium seating and a grazing station.

Make a Weekend of It

The advantage of watching the Air Show from Hotel X is not only the view. It is what happens before and after it.

Check in on Friday and you may catch glimpses of practice day from the waterfront.

Know Before You Go

If there is one piece of advice worth taking seriously on Air Show weekend, it is this: Do not cut your arrival close. Between the CNE, the Air Show and Labour Day weekend traffic, Exhibition Place is one of the busiest parts of Toronto.

Remember that event parking is not included nor guaranteed, so arriving by transit may be an option.
For Hotel X Toronto guests, Exhibition GO Station and the Exhibition Loop streetcar are within walking distance of the hotel, with direct connections toward downtown and Union Station.
And if you are staying with us, the easiest commute of the weekend might simply be the elevator to the fourth floor.
